The first round of the UK Time Attack 2013 championship was held at Cadwell Park. A total of 51 teams registered to take on the challenging, narrow track and its hill surprises… Of course, as official photographer of the championship and as our UK contributor, Rich Sams was present to capture the performance.
Gavin Renshaw kick started his championship season with not only a new laprecord of 1:26.500, but also claimed the win in the highest Pro Class. Followed by the SVA Imports EVO with pilot Gareth Lloyd, setting a laptime of 1:27.000. Their team is busy as hell, competing in both the UK and NL Time Attack championships. Nice!
Buddyclub’s TVR Sagaris with pilot Brett Winstanley earned third place in the Pro class rankings with a laptime of 1:28.600. The green monster seems to have fun attacking these hills.
Even some legendary cars came out to play… In case you missed it, the new Gobstopper II has already been confirmed to enter the European Time Attack Masters. Check up on all our news related to that performance packing European round here.
The UK Time Attack championship has always been a source of inspiration when it comes down to engineering. Aerodynamics has become an unleashed study. We’re now also seeing some original car types competing amongst the warriors from the land of the rising sun.
To see these cars fitted with crazy aerodynamics is… well, again inspirational.
Then again, they have to impress these broad JDM muscle machines back. Be sure to catch up on all the results of the UK Time Attack championship on their official website.
